Brand new studio album by the renowned Cologne vibraphonist in a quartet with guests as a CD in a three-part digipack and as an LP (180 gram vinyl, gatefold) on JAZZJAZZ. The "MILT JACKSON PROJECT" has been part of the repertoire of the qualified vibraphonist MATTHIAS STRUCKEN for years - an affair of the heart. JACKSON (1923-1999), himself a vibraphonist and co-founder of the legendary MODERN JAZZ QUARTET, was the definitive master of bluesy, swinging and groovy cool jazz, which STRUCKEN now recreated in an intoxicating way together with pianist MARTIN SASSE, bassist MATTHIAS NOWAK and drummer DOMINIK RAAB revive. Especially the simplicity and clarity of melody and form inspire STRUCKEN. "I loves You Porgy" is the band's second release, some of which will be expanded to include guests PAUL HELLER, JOSCHO STEPHAN and ALFONSO GARRIDO. At the same time, they never sound nostalgic, it was important for STRUCKEN to persistently expand its sound and tonal spectrum, while its moody and varied sound feeds on both the melodic and the percussive possibilities of his instrument, which Strucken not only swings, but pre-sings everything to sing, warm-hearted and rich in atmospheric sound effects.
