Maalouf arbeitet auf ??Capacity To Love? mit zahlreichen namhaften Grö?ten der internationalen Musikszene. Das Ergebnis ist hochklassig, schrill, divers und vielseitig. Ein moderner Mix populärer Klänge, stark und fest verwurzelt in Maaloufs jazzigem Spiel mit den unverkennbaren musikalischen Balkan-Ursprüngen.
Ibrahim Maalouf ist trotz seines vergleichbar jungen Alters (geb. 5.12. 1980 in Beirut) bereits heute eine Jazz-und Weltmusik-Legende. Entdeckt wurde er früh von Quincy Jones, selbst Jazz-Gro?meister. Für Maalouf folgten Alben und Auftritte mit Grö?en der Musikwelt. Sting, Jon Baptiste, Trilok Gurtu und das Kronos Quartet sind nur einige Namen, mit denen Ibrahim bereits zusammengearbeitet hat. 2016 erhielt er den Jazz-Echo.
Auf seinem neuen Album hat er sich wieder ganz der Kollaboration verschrieben. Etwas ist aber anders: Bewegte er sich auf seinen vorherigen Alben meist im Jazz/Weltmusik-Feld, entert er nun neues Terrain.
Maalouf widmet sich auf "Capacity to Love" Rap, Hip Hop und anderen Spielarten moderner Musik. So ist zum Beispiel auf der ersten Single "Money" Erick the Architect zu hören. Ein Rapper, der nicht in das übliche Kollaborationsschema von Ibrahim passt. Die sonstigen Gäste auf dem Album sind bunt gemischt: Mit Gregory Porter ist eine Grö?e des Jazz dabei. JP Cooper ist ein Singer-Songwriter, Cimafunk mischt Funk, Hip-Hop und kubanisch/afrokaribische Musik und De La Soul ist ein lange bestehendes Hip-Hop-Trio. Sheléa ist eine Pianistin, Sängerin und ist so wie Ibrahim auch eine Protegée von Quincy Jones. Auch Schauspielerin Sharon Stone ("Basic Instinct") hat sich für Maalouf in die Welt der Musik getraut. Besonders interessant ist Dear Silas, ein Rapper und Trompeter, der die beiden Welten, die auf dem Album aufeinadertreffen in sich vereint. Zum einen das Trompetenspiel von Ibrahim Maalouf und zum anderen den Hip-Hop, den das Multitalent auf seinem Album für sich entdeckt hat. - CD comes in a trifold digipak in a slipcase with a 24 pages booklet
