Golden Earring gibt es seit 1961 und die aktuelle Besetzung umfasst die beiden Gründungsmitglieder George Kooymans (Gesang und Gitarre) und Rinus Gerritsen (Bass, Keyboard) sowie Barry Hay (Gesang, Gitarre, Flöte und Saxophon), der seit 1968 Mitglied ist, und Cesar Zuiderwijk (Schlagzeug), der seit 1970 mit dabei ist. Die Band hatte über 40 Hits und veröffentlichte 30 Alben, von denen viele in ihrem Heimatland, den Niederlanden, Gold- oder Platinstatus erreichten. Am bekanntesten sind sie für ihre Hit-Single "Radar Love" von 1973 und ihre Single "Twilight Zone" von 1982. Um 1992 waren die Unplugged-Sessions auf MTV ein Trend; fast jede Rockband und Künstler machte dabei mit. Bassist Rinus Gerritsen schlug vor, selbst ein akustisches Album aufzunehmen. Limited numbered 180gm gold colored vinyl LP pressing housed in heavyweight jacket with leather laminate finish. Includes insert. Around 1992, the unplugged sessions on MTV were a trend; almost every rock band or artist was doing them. Bass player Rinus Gerritsen suggested to record an acoustic album themselves. The record company wasn't very enthusiastic at first so with a small budget the band recorded the album live in an intimate cafe in Amsterdam. The Naked Truth turned out to be the Golden Earring's bestselling album.
