TEMPLE OF WORMS "liber de morbis" The idea behind Liber de Morbis was to pay homage to old school metal, but not to simply reproduce the tropes of already established, specific subgenres. Old school death metal being a vaster style than it appears, the tribute could not be comptent with simply imitating the swedish style, or the floridian scene, as it has already be done (and well!) by hundreds before. Liber de Morbis acts as a catalogue of the entire 80?s/90?s death metal genre : from Progeria which borrows from the western American scene (SADISTIC INTENT), to Septis which reminds of the glory days of the Finnish scene (ABHORRENCE, FUNEBRE), and Rage, inspired by the heavy Pittsburgh style (DERKETA, ROTTREVORE), everything is encased in the raw and putrid stylings of AUTOPSY and REPULSION. Rather than going the way of historical re-enactment, TEMPLE OF WORMS chooses to take old school death metal in its entirety. From heaviness to speed, from gore to dismemberment : this is LIBER DE MORBIS. For the lyrics, Crowdead has a minimalistic approach to the writing process, which suits the brutality and violence of his voice. The album is actually a concept album about disease, theme that we chose way before the pandemic.
