The award-winning folk musician Benedicte Maurseth gives a long-awaited praise to the Norwegian female fiddlers and tradition bearers of the 20th century. â??Systerspelâ? is a response to the album â??Meisterspelâ? (Heilo, 1997), that showed some of the best fiddlers throughout the 20th century, it just happened that there was only music by male musicians on that album. Benedicte Maurseth has curated a double-album now with various tracks spanning from recordings by Kristiane Lund in 1919, the first woman to record for the Gramophone Records-label, to Helga Myhr and her solo album from 2020. You will also find recordings by a long range of master fiddlers as Signe Flatin Neset, Jorun Marie Rypdal Kvernberg, Ase Teigland, Ingebjorg Akre Rysstad, Johanna Flottorp, Ragnhild Furebotten, Ingeleiv Kjerland Kvammen, Mari Eggen, Annbjorg Lien, Susanne Lundeng and Britt Pernille Froholm. -
