â? Carter Jefferson war ein amerikanischer Jazz-Tenorsaxofonist, der sich zunächst als Mitglied des ersten Quintetts von Woody Shaw einen Namen machte. Als Sideman spielte Carter mit vielen Jazz-Ikonen, darunter Art Blakey, Walter Davis Jr. und Jack Walrath.
1978 veröffentlichte er sein erstes und einziges Solo-Studioalbum, "The Rise Of Atlantis", das von Woody Shaw produziert wurde. Bei den Aufnahmen wird Jefferson von Terumasa Hino, Harry Whitaker, Clint Houston, Victor Lewis, Steve Thornton, Lani Groves, Shunzo Ono und John Hicks unterstützt.

As a sideman, Carter played amongst many jazz icons, including Art Blakey, Walter Davis, Jr. And Jack Walrath. In 1978, he released his first and only solo studio album, The Rise Of Atlantis, which was produced by Woody Shaw. For the recordings, Jefferson is backed by Terumasa Hino, Harry Whitaker, Clint Houston, Victor Lewis, Steve Thornton, Lani Groves, Shunzo Ono and John Hicks. The Rise Of Atlantis is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent green colored vinyl and includes liner notes by Michael Cuscuna on the back sleeve.Comes in a resealable plastic outer with a 'Music On Vinyl' hype sticker on the front. Sleeve is printed on heavy cardboard with linen laminate finish. Includes a plain white poly lined inner sleeve. Gold numbering "MOV 00####" on the back cover.
