Ten Years After, zunÃ¤chst als The Jaybirds und spÃ¤ter als Blues Trip bekannt, wurde 1966 von Alvin Lee, Leo Lyons, Chick Churchill und Ric Lee gegrÃ¼ndet. Der Name leitet sich angeblich von der Tatsache ab, dass sie ein Jahrzehnt nach Elvis Presley auf der BildflÃ¤che erschienen waren. Als erster Act, der bei der Agentur Chrysalis unter Vertrag genommen wurde, erwarb sich die Gruppe einen furchteinflÃ¶Ã?enden Ruf fÃ¼r ihre Live-Auftritte, wobei ihr Leader Alvin Lee als "die schnellste Gitarre des Westens" bezeichnet wurde. Ihr DebÃ¼talbum "Ten Years After" wurde im Oktober 1967 verÃ¶ffentlicht. In dem Jahr, in dem das Album volljÃ¤hrig wurde, produzierte die Gruppe eine schÃ¶ne Sammlung von Coversongs - wie z. B. Willie Dixon's "Spoonful" und Al Kooper's "I Can't Keep From Crying Sometimes" - und Eigenkompositionen. Produziert von Mike Vernon und Gus Dudgeon in den Decca West Hampstead Studios von Decca produziert, war es eines der sichersten Blues-Rock-DebÃ¼ts der 60er Jahre. Known initially as The Jaybirds, and then Blues Trip, Ten Years After was formed by Alvin Lee, Leo Lyons, Chick Churchill and Ric Lee in 1966, allegedly taking their name from the fact it was then a decade after Elvis Presley had burst onto the scene. The first act signed to the Chrysalis agency, the group built a fearsome reputation for their live act, with leader Alvin Lee dubbed 'the fastest guitar in the west. 'Their debut album, Ten Years After, was released in October 1967. In the year when the album came of age, the group produced a fine collection of covers - such as Willie Dixon's Spoonful, and Al Kooper's I Can't Keep From Crying Sometimes - and originals. Produced by Mike Vernon and Gus Dudgeon at Decca's West Hampstead Studios, it was one of the most assured blues- rock debuts of the 60s. This re- issue faithfully replicates the original 1967 Deram Records UK stereo release and is pressed onto high quality 180g vinyl.
