Description:Charlie Daniels & Friends mit Volunteer Jam 1 â?? 1974: The Legend Begins (2LP). Als Charlie Daniels seinen allerersten Volunteer Jam in seinem Heimatstaat Tennessee veranstaltete, liefen nicht nur die Bänder, sondern auch die Kameras. Teile des Jams wurden gefilmt und 1975 in die Kinos gebracht. Der Volunteer Jam sollte 1999 auf Tournee gehen, wobei der Film vor jeder Show gezeigt werden sollte. Diese Live-Aufnahme bietet einen guten Querschnitt durch die Musik, die an diesem Tag auf der Bühne entstand; es gibt auch eine EP auf Daniels' Album "Fire on the Mountain", die von derselben Show stammt. Die Charlie Daniels Band brennt bei den ersten drei Nummern lichterloh, bevor sie die Show an die Marshall Tucker Band für eine rauchige Version von "The Thrill Is Gone" übergibt. Die CDB unterstützt Dickey Betts von der Allman Brothers Band bei "Sweet Mama" von J.J. Cale, und die Bühne füllt sich für das Finale, "Mountain Dew", mit Betts, Mylon LeFevre, Jimmy Hall von Wet Willie und Ronnie Stoneman am Banjo - ein bodenständiger Hoedown. Double vinyl LP pressing. Thought lost for years, the very first Volunteer Jam from Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium in 1974 is available. Special guests: Toy Caldwell (Marshall Tucker Band) on guitar and steel guitar; Dicky Betts (Allman Brothers) on guitar; Paul Riddle (Marshall Tucker Band) on drums and percussion; and Jamie Nichol on percussion. Recorded live at the War Memorial Auditorium, October 4, 1974.
