The eight DVDs include the first DVD release of Janáček??s ??From the House of the Dead? with the Wiener Philharmoniker - RECORDINGS ON DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON AND DECCA/257CD+8DVDMarking what would have been Claudio Abbados 90th birthday in 2023, Deutsche Grammophon released a limited and numbered edition of his complete recordings for DG, Decca and Philips. The box set, including 258 CDs and 8 DVDs. Abbado and Deutsche Grammophon had a unique partnership over 30 years and in that time he recorded over 250 albums which are all in this box set.
The set was originally released without the recording of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 16 by Rudolf Serkin and Claudio Abbado and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. This missing disc was available on request from Deutsche Grammophon.
Concerto No. 16 was first released in 1997 on Deutsche Grammophon 445 597-2, together with Concerto No. 20 with Abbado and the London Symphony Orchestra, which was first released in 1982 and is on disc 120.
