2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Gene Krupaâ??s death at the age of just 64, on 15th October 1973. From 1935 until 1938 Gene Krupa literally drove the Benny Goodman Orchestra and small groups in a way which has never been equalled. This CD is a must for both Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa fans. The producer of this album, John Petters, renowned drummer and band leader, says Krupa was the sound of the Benny Goodman bandsâ?¦.This seems an appropriate time to re-evaluate the music on this CD, which I regard as some of the most exciting sessions in jazz history.
