 | Description: | The Seminal 1986 Album Revisited, Produced In Conjunction With Laibach. Complete With A Second LP Of Live Versions From The Band's Own Archive. Remastered And Re-Designed By The Laibach Organisation With Sleevenotes By Alexei Monroe. Few bands stand apart from the crowd as distinctly as Laibach. Their idiosyncratic outlook and philosophy was formed against the backdrop of post-Soviet socialism in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and the band has continued to follow an individual, often controversial path for over forty years, taking them into places few other artists dare to go. Originally released by Cherry Red in 1986, 'Nova Akropola' ('The New Acropolis') remains a masterpiece of politically-informed industrial expression, and signalled the beginning of Laibach's breakthrough onto the international scene, at a time when restrictions imposed on them in their homeland were beginning to be lifted. Limited edition black and silver vinyl pressing."Nova Akropola" is a seminal LP by the Slovenian avant-garde group Laibach, released through Cherry Red Records. Originally launched in 1986, this album stands as one of Laibach's most influential works, blending industrial soundscapes with martial rhythms and provocative themes that challenge political and cultural norms. The record features iconic tracks such as "Dr?ava," "Vojna Poema," and the title track "Nova Akropola," each characterized by powerful orchestration and haunting vocals. This reissue by Cherry Red ensures high-quality audio fidelity for collectors and new listeners alike.
Laibach, formed in 1980 in Trbovlje, Slovenia (then Yugoslavia), are pioneers of industrial music known for their controversial artistic statements and multimedia performances. Their innovative approach has earned them international acclaim, influencing genres from electronic to rock. Notable achievements include collaborations with NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst) collective and critically acclaimed albums like "Opus Dei" and "Spectre."
