All three films were originally produced and created as groundbreaking television documentaries by Ralph J. A Night At The Family Dog was videotaped in February 1970 at Family Dog on the Great Highway in San Francisco. The show captures the heyday and diversity of the San Francisco sound with live performances from Santana, The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane.
Two TV programs from Rolling Stone co-founder Ralph J. Gleason, covering the San Francisco psychedelia scene of the late sixties and early seventies. "Go Ride The Music", featuring Jefferson Airplane and Quicksilver Messenger Service performing live in concert. Jefferson Airplane perform at an intimate indoor venue while Quicksilver Messenger Service are filmed at outdoor concert. There are also cameo appearances from David Crosby and Jerry Garcia, and a variety of miscellaneous relatively-related footage clips interspersed throughout the film. "West Pole", subtitled "An Essay on San Francisco Adult Rock Sound", features Ace Of Cups, Sons Of Champlin, the Grateful Dead and the Steve Miller Band performing live in various settings. Go Ride The Music was recorded in 1969, focusing on two of the Bay Area?s biggest bands at the time ? Jefferson Airplane & Quicksilver Messenger Service.
West Pole is an essay on the San Francisco music scene, originally airing in 1969. It features rare performances from local and national favorites, including The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Steve Miller Band, Ace of Cups and Sons of Champlin.
