Motéma Music, qui célèbre sa 20e année en tant que l'un des plus importants labels de jazz/world au monde, présente « FlamenKora », le premier album éponyme d'un nouveau trio qui unit la musique mandé d'Afrique de l'Ouest à l'authentique guitare flamenco espagnole et à la trompette jazz américaine et européenne pour créer une collaboration transglobale unique en son genre.
FlamenKora a d'abord pris racine pendant les périodes de verrouillage pandémique, lorsque le trompettiste et compositeur renommé Volker Goetze s'est plongé dans des sessions d'écriture tout en étudiant virtuellement avec le très estimé maestro madrilène du flamenco Enrique Vargas (Les Paul, Paco De Lucia). Goetze avait rencontré Alejandro Moreno au Theatro Flamenco Madrid en 2018 et les deux se sont ensuite produits ensemble à Salzbourg, en Autriche, lors du festival "Zwischenräume" (2020). Enthousiasmé par la manière dont les traditions mandé et flamenco dansent ensemble sans effort et avec beauté, Volker a invité Alejandro à rejoindre le duo pour une résidence au festival Jazz & The City (Salzbourg), où ils ont joué à guichets fermés et sous les ovations.
