Having learned a lot from previous albums (with Wouter Vlaeminck as producer), and the recent EP, they wrote, composed, rehearsed, recorded, produced and mixed everything by themselves. Jean provided his studio in Hasselt, friends let them usesome awesome gear, they rented an apartment in Hasselt for a week and recorded the third album together live. They recorded all the instruments in 2 days. Yoran, the bandâ??s live sound engineer, came over to help along with a handful of other friends they work with. We can say that all these people who helped them, became their family. A family of people theyâ??ve been working with for the past 10 years. THE GURU GURU has been happily dealing in deep express art rock since 2012, combining feverishly angular guitars with off - kilter, polyrhythms all complimented by erratic and unhinged vocals. While influences are drawn from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, The Mars Volta, SOULWAX, The Jesus Lizard & Andy Kaufman, the indie-math-psycho-noise rulebook is torn apart, resulting in erratic songs that somehow seem to develop into wriggling earworms. The band cannot be placed into one genre. -
