French singer-songwriter Tiwayo is somewhat of a mysterious character. Thereā??s
little known about his background other than that he has taken in influences
from the music of the 60s and 70s, especially blues, soul, gospel and reggae.
How do you invent what's next when your first album was released on the Blue
Note label and produced by Mark Neill, known for his work on The Black Keys'
records? This is probably the question Tiwayo, a thirty-year-old Parisian fan of
black American music, asked himself. The answer: "Desert Dream", an album
less produced, less gospel-blues, more fragile, more refined. A timeless and
essential album, as it appears from time to time, despite all the fashions
governing the present moment, from Tracy Chapman to Sufjan Stevens, via
Wilco, Bon Iver, Ben Harper...
One hears the echo of the silence of the great arid American spaces. This soul
of America, contained in its endless, dusty and lonely roads, which run straight
towards the hope of a more serene tomorrow. Tiwayo traces this road as a
