English Yuriy P. - 2024年 05月 11日 5 满分 5 颗星!
One of the best death metal albums from the genre's golden heyday. No other disc from the greats of this period makes me so delighted and touched by the honesty and 100% efficiency of death metal standards. Before moving on to music with higher potential, Pestilence left us with this wonderful piece of rawness and almost primal power. The main thing in it is the atmosphere of agony, the struggle for survival, which is most eloquently evidenced by the almost naturalistic cover. The hysterical terrible vocals only in the late 80s - early. The 90s could so reliably convey the emotions of an individual dying of incense. Perhaps this disc is anthropocentric because its rhythmic basis is also thrash hammering. A running, gasping person cannot stop and thereby hasten his death from external factors, especially since infections are eating away at him from the inside. The most body-horror a la Cronenberg appears to our imagination in the famous “Out of the Body”. Guitar riffs actively work to demolish the roof, the beauty of their heaviness is equal to the beauty of the anxiety they convey. The solo work is sustained in, I will not tire of repeating, the typical nightmarish anti-musical style characteristic of those years, but there are also glimpses of healthy aesthetics (for example, in the instrumental “Proliferous Souls”). Marco Foddis' drum parts are extremely driving and played with incredible dedication, which makes them indispensable in supporting the entire guitar mass of the album (only sometimes the plastic sound on the fills surprises). The informer, who has been permanent until recently, does not often use two barrels, but if he starts, you are guaranteed to cement your ears with a juicy bass. As a result, when summing up the roles of the guitars and the rhythm section, the output is hurricane-like and truly plague-like music. Music of personal tragedies and disasters of humanity. Music played to the limit and expecting the same response from the listener.
