Description:Sony Music is releasing the major label debut of Austrian pianist Florian Krumpöck with compositions by Frédéric Chopin. But why were two different pianos used for this? Florian Krumpöck, the Austrian pianist, conductor and festival director, chose Frédéric Chopin's famous Piano Ballads Nos. 1-4 as well as his 2nd Piano Sonata for his first recording on the major label Sony Classical. The sounding result does not correspond at all to the usual clichés and allows a completely independent sound world to emerge. Free of kitsch and outdated mannerisms, an atmosphere is created that shows how strongly Chopin's melodies are influenced by Italian opera, especially bel canto. Nevertheless, the accompanying voices are never neglected: they comment on, counteract, support the "vocal lines". Two different pianos were deliberately used: a full, overtone-rich Bösendorfer Imperial for the Prélude and the Ballades, a clearer, more "modern" Bösendorfer 280 for the 2nd Piano Sonata. Krumpöck himself describes his sound ideal as follows: "Passionate, masculine, as Rubinstein said, Slavic, not French. And above all, never sentimental!" -
