GestÃ¤rkt durch den immensen Erfolg von "Dido & Aeneas" und "King Arthur" produzierte Purcell im Jahr 1692 "The Fairy Queen", basierend auf Shakespeares "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Das Werk ist eigentlich eine Semi-Oper oder Oper mit Dialogen, bei der nur einige der entscheidenden Szenen musikalisch untermalt sind. Doch diese Version von "A Midsummer Night's Dream" des Orpheus Britannicus wurde fast genauso berÃ¼hmt wie das TheaterstÃ¼ck, das sie inspiriert hat. Die Liebesszenen, Ã¼bernatÃ¼rlichen Momente und der angeborene musikalische Humor verleihen dem Werk einen unwiderstehlichen Geschmack und eine zauberhafte AtmosphÃ¤re. -
