| Description: | Gestärkt durch den immensen Erfolg von "Dido & Aeneas" und "King Arthur" produzierte Purcell im Jahr 1692 "The Fairy Queen", basierend auf Shakespeares "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Das Werk ist eigentlich eine Semi-Oper oder Oper mit Dialogen, bei der nur einige der entscheidenden Szenen musikalisch untermalt sind. Doch diese Version von "A Midsummer Night's Dream" des Orpheus Britannicus wurde fast genauso berühmt wie das Theaterstück, das sie inspiriert hat. Die Liebesszenen, übernatürlichen Momente und der angeborene musikalische Humor verleihen dem Werk einen unwiderstehlichen Geschmack und eine zauberhafte Atmosphäre. - |
