 | Description: | Alvin Lee made his professional debut in Nottingham in 1962. Like a generation of young men, he was inspired by the
blues and rockâ??nâ??roll and galvanised by the beat boom. His band, the Jaybirds, became Ten Years After in 1966. The
band signed to Decca Recordsâ?? Deram subsidiary in 1967, touring so extensively that they were known as the
hardest-working band in America, completing 28 tours in just seven years. Their prodigious work rate was matched in
the studio with two albums per year in 1969 and 1970. It was the 1969 Woodstock festival, in particular the song â??Iâ??m
Going Home,â?? featured in Michael Wadleighâ??s movie, which changed everything.
Interestingly, the 25th anniversary of the Woodstock festival was being celebrated that very summer of 1994, while Lee
was promoting his latest album Nineteen Ninety Four (American title I Hear You Rockinâ??) â?? a back-to-basics exercise. At
the Rockhaus, Vienna, Lee made his purpose clear from the outset when he opened with the rst three tracks from
Nineteen Ninety Four. This was the nal night of their European tour, and the band are captured on blistering form. Alvin
remained hugely popular in Europe â?? Germany and Austria in particular â?? and the audienceâ??s enthusiasm is palpable. - First appearing in March 1995 in the US on Viceroy imprint, and in Britain on the Thunderbolt label, this 1994 concert, rated by fans as Alvin Lee's best live album since Ten Years After's Undead, released in 1968 to coincide with their first US tour, gives an idea of the evolution of his music and stagecraft. Recorded live at the Rockhaus in Vienna on the final night of his European tour. Remastered by Jon Astley at Close To The Edge. | | No. of tracks: |
