Michael Dion Sinfonia Di Mayfair. As a record producer, composer, and label owner, Michael Dion has created music since the early 80's, that has included jazz, rock and classical. However, he usually stays in the background, working the numerous artist releases associated with the label, but periodically releases his own music. This time, it's a classical album, devoted to Venice. The Video on YouTube is the entire album. The Music of Venice Historical Background. Music of Venice has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages and based on the travels of trade throughout Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Instrumental music and opera developed in the 1600's, along with Venice Baroque being developed in between the same period until the 1800's. In Venice, the opera season corresponds to the Carnevale, which is the weeks that precede Lent, that continues to this day. It's been a social event when Venice held international meetings to discuss trade, banking, and war with the Turks. A side note is that Antonio Vivaldi taught his music trade to an orphanage in Venice at the Ospedale della Pietà. Originally it was a convent as a hospice for the needy. The Venetian nuns, called the Consorelle di Santa Maria dell'Umiltà, established the institution in the fourteenth century. Here, Michael creates fifteen tracks in Venetian symphonic music, with the help of Stern Muzik. Each track correlates to the beauty of Venice and it's surroundings.
