Mosaic (1961) was the first record of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in a sextet setting. Apart from Blakey, the sextet consists of Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), Curtis Fuller(trombone), Wayne Shorter(sax), Cedar Walton(piano) and Jymie Merritt on bass. All the tunes on this album were written by the band members. Needless to say that every Blakey fan should own this fine recording.
