"Blowin' the blues away" was recorded in 1959 and released on the blue note label. The quintet on this session features Blue Mitchell and Junior Cook (horns) and Eugene Taylor and Louis Hayes (rhythm section). This lovely album is one of the essential recordings by Horace Silver. The warm ballad "peace" as well as the gospel based call-and-response swinger "sister Sadie" have become jazz-standards. But all the other timeless Silver originals like the title track make this one of the pianist's finest jazz outings. Highly recommended.
