Blue Note Tone Poet Series / 180gr. |
 | Description: | Alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson hadn't recorded for Blue Note since 1963 when he returned to the label in 1967 and began a new chapter in his lengthy career. Sweet Papa Lou had helped lay Blue Note's soul jazz foundation alongside Hammond B3 organists including Jimmy Smith, Baby Face Willette, and Big John Patton going back to the late-1950s thru the early-60s on standout dates including his own Here 'Tis, Good Gracious!, and The Natural Soul. Upon his return Donaldson pushed ahead with a new hard-grooving sound on 1967's Alligator Bogaloowhich was the first of his many collaborations with organ virtuoso Lonnie Smith and also featured the young guitar star George Benson and the impossibly funky drummer Leo Morris (aka Idris Muhammad). On Mr. Shing-A-Ling he added the bluesy trumpeter Blue Mitchell to the mix, and for 1968's soul jazz manifesto Midnight Creeper he got the whole gang back together for a greasy 6-song set including the jaunty title track, "Love Power," "Bag of Jewels," and "Dapper Dan.", Runningtime: 00:00:00, Alto Saxophone: Lou Donaldson, Design [Cover Design By], Cover [Cover Design By]: Forlenza Venosa Associates, Drums: Leo Morris, Guitar: George Benson, Lacquer Cut By: Kevin Gray, Mastered By [LP Mastering By]: Kevin Gray, Organ: Lonnie Smith, Photography By [Cover Photo By], Cover [Cover Photo By]: Joel Brodsky, Producer [Original Session Produced By], Photography By [Insert Photography By]: Francis Wolff, Recorded By [Recording By]: Rudy Van Gelder, Sleeve Notes [WWRL N.Y.C.]: Reggie Lavong, Supervised By [LP Supervision By]: Joe Harley, Trumpet: Blue Mitchell, Written-By: Lou Donaldson, Written-By: Teddy Vann, Written-By: Lou Donaldson, Written-By: Lonnie Smith, Written-By: Harold Ousley, Labelcode 4526225 (602445262250, BST 84280), Record Company Liberty Records (3), Record Company Blue Note Records, Record Company Capitol Records, LLC, Record Company Blue Note Records Inc., Record Company Liberty Records, Inc., Manufactured By Record Technology Incorporated, Copyright (c) Capitol Records, LLC, Recorded At Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, Mastered At Cohearent Audio, Lacquer Cut At Cohearent Audio, Pressed By Record Technology Incorporated, Printed By Stoughton Printing Co.« Midnight Creeper (Tone Poet Vinyl) » est une édition vinyle haut de gamme du légendaire saxophoniste de jazz Lou Donaldson proposée par le prestigieux label Blue Note dans sa série audiophile « Tone Poet ».
