A Quartet Records premiere soundtrack release of Michael Giacchino's score to the 2023 Netflix film "Society Of The Snow" directed by Juan Antonio Bayona. Composed for orchestra, percussion and choir, and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, this CD release comes in a digipack designed by Mo Shafeek, with a separate booklet featuring liner notes by the film's director. The Netflix film "Society Of The Snow" unfolds the true story of the events that followed on October 1972 after the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes Mountains. Only 16 of its 45 passengers survived the accident. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they resorted to extreme measures to stay alive, until their rescue more than two months later. The shocking event has been made into various films since the tragic occurrence. In 1974 the British writer Piers Paul Read, documented the events of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in his best seller book titled "Alive". "This is the second time that composer Michael Giacchino has worked with director Juan Antonio Bayona since his first collaboration on "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom". For "Society Of The Snow' the composer took the story and constructed it narratively from the first scene to the last, creating a kind of progression that parallels the progression of the group, creating a highly dramatic and by turns deeply emotional, tragically haunting, and beautifully innocent arc."
