 | | Description: | Remastered 2CD Edition Of The Classic Live Album By Van Der Graaf. Mastered From The Original Master Tapes. With Fully Restored Artwork And New Essay With Band Interviews. The album was the final release of the 1970s by Van der Graaf Generator, who by 1977 had abbreviated their name to Van der Graaf and featured a line-up of Peter Hammill (vocals, piano, guitars), Guy Evans (drums), Nic Potter (bass), and Graham Smith (violin) who added Charles Dickie (cello) to the band mid-way through the year. Following a long year of touring and recording the album 'The Quiet Zone / The Pleasure Dome', the band greeted 1978 with two concerts at the Marquee Club in London on 15 and 16 January which were recorded. The concerts featured a guest appearance by former member David Jackson on saxophone and flute. 'Vital' was a brutal sonic assault and featured Van der Graaf at their most powerful and impassioned. The record proved to be their swansong of the 1970s, as by the time of the album's release in July 1978, the band had broken up due to financial difficulties."Vital - Van der Graaf Live 2CD Edition" captures the raw energy and intensity of Van Der Graaf Generator?s legendary live performances. Recorded during their 1977 tour, this double CD set showcases the band at a pivotal moment in their career, delivering powerful renditions of classics like "Still Life," "Pioneers Over C," and "Killer." The album is renowned for its dynamic soundscapes, complex arrangements, and Peter Hammill's passionate vocals. Cherry Red Records, known for their dedication to reissuing classic progressive rock albums with high-quality remastering and comprehensive liner notes, brings this essential live recording back into the spotlight. Van Der Graaf Generator are pioneers of progressive rock from England; since forming in 1967, they have influenced countless artists with their experimental approach and intense musicality. Their groundbreaking albums such as "Pawn Hearts" and "Godbluff" remain milestones in prog history. | | | No. of tracks: |
