Auf ihr kommen drei der wichtigsten Protagonisten der improvisierten Musik in DÃ¤nemark â?? fÃ¼hrende Musiker aus drei Generationen des dÃ¤nischen Jazz â?? zusammen. Das Konzert, das im Februar 2023 stattfand, war besonders bedeutungsgeladen, da es die RÃ¼ckkehr des Trompeters Palle Mikkelborg auf die BÃ¼hne markierte, der hier einige seiner bedachtesten Linien vortrÃ¤gt. Das Repertoire setzt sich aus Jakob Bros Alben Returnings und Gefion zusammen und wird mit spontanem und neugierigem Geist angegangen, wÃ¤hrend Marilyn Mazurs subtile Perkussionssprache aus blÃ¼henden Gongs und Metallen und polternden Trommeln mit Bros treibenden und plÃ¤tschernden KlangflÃ¤chen die StÃ¼cke zu immer wieder neuen Formen verschmelzen lÃ¤sst. Die atmosphÃ¤rischen QualitÃ¤ten der Musik wie auch ihre eruptiven Momente werden durch die resonante Akustik der Danish Radio Concert Hall noch verstÃ¤rkt. -

"When we walked out on stage it felt like a homecoming," says Jakob Bro of this texturally spacious and emotionally charged live recording from Copenhagen, on which three of the defining protagonists of improvisation in Denmark, leading musicians from three generations of Danish jazz, come together. The concert, in February 2023, was particularly poignant since it marked a return to performance for trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg, who delivers some of his most thoughtful playing here. Repertoire, drawn from Jakob Bro's Returnings and Gefion albums, is addressed in spontaneous and exploratory spirit, and transformed as Marilyn Mazur's subtle percussion language of blossoming gongs and metals and rumbling drums blends with Bro's drifting and rippling washes of sound. The music's atmospheric qualities, as well it's eruptive moments, are enhanced by the resonant acoustics of the Danish Radio Concert Hall.
