Description:â?ª Alice Coltraneâ??s â??The Carnegie Hall Concertâ? is a previously unreleased recording of a historic 1971 concert â?ª The original multi-track recording was commissioned by Impulse Records but wasnâ??t released at the time â?ª Aliceâ??s first performance as a leader at Carnegie Hall â?ª All-star group including Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, Jimmy Garrison, Cecil McBee, Ed Blackwell and others â?ª The gala concert was a fundraiser for Swami Satchidanandaâ??s Integral Yoga Institute, and was one of two halves with the first two transcendental tunes by Alice taken from the album she had just released on Impulse! and then two explosive tunes by her late husband John Coltrane. â?ª A triple bill placing her in the company of Laura Nyro and The Rascals â?ª Concert produced by Sid Bernstein, who promoted the first Beatles concert in the US â?ª Recorded in quadraphonic and decoded to stereo for this release, mastered/cut by Kevin Reeves and presented on 2-LP gatefold â?ª Package includes essays by Lauren Du Graf and Aliceâ??s producer Ed Michel -
