Description:John Primer & Magic Slim - Slow Blues Feat. Magic Slim & John Primer - John Primer is a veteran Of the Chicago blues scene. He was born in 1945 in Camden, MS. In 1963 he moved to Chicago and started to find clubs, where he could play his music. In 1974 he started to play in the house band of Theresa's lounge In the southside. His teacher was there Sammy Lawhorn, one of Chicago's best guitar player ever!! He started as a sideman-jobs in Willie Dixons All-Stars Blues Band, following from 1980-1983 as part of the Muddy Waters Blues Band. After Muddy's death he joined Magic Slim's Teardrops, a cooperation that lasted for 14 years!! These days John tours with his own band, The Real Deal Blues Band, featuring Steve Bell on harmonica. He has recorded about 11cds with Wolf Records Int. And 3 CDs on his own label, Blues House Records. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2023, he has received numerous Blues Awards and he has 3 Grammy nominations!! Magic Slim (aka Morris Holt)was born 1937 In Torrence/ms and moved in the 50's to Chicago. #he played bas with the band mr Pitiful and the Teardrops. #when mr. #pitiful left the band, slim moved back to Grenada And formed his own band with his brothers nick holt on bass and lee baby on drums. 1965 slim came back to Chicago and played mostly in clubs on the southside. #slims guitar Sound like a slide guitar without a slide!! The teardrops-sound became famous when Alabama Jr. #pettis joined the band! France bluesfans brought slim at the end of the 70's to France and later to all concert halls In Europe!! Nate appelwhite replaced lee baby drums- there were differen CDs on the France Labels Black and Blue and Isabell In 1986 slim recorded his first CD on Wolf records, which won a blues award! Wolf recorded 6 cds with live recordings from the zoo Bar from Lincoln/Nebraska and A CD with his acoustic guitar. Slim signed later Also with the blind pig label!! Slim got also many blues awards -like living blues awards or blues blast Awards. He was inducted in the blues hall of fame in 2017
