"The Sound Of Perseverance" est le dernier et emblématique album studio du groupe Death sorti en 1998 et proposé ici au format vinyle par Relapse Records. Cet opus marque l?apogée de la virtuosité technique du groupe avec ses structures complexes et son approche novatrice du death metal progressif ; on y retrouve notamment les titres phares « Scavenger of Human Sorrow », « Spirit Crusher » ainsi qu?une reprise audacieuse de « Painkiller » de Judas Priest. Fondé en 1983 par le guitariste/chanteur Chuck Schuldiner, Death est considéré comme un pionnier absolu du genre death metal grâce à des albums majeurs tels que « Leprosy », « Human » ou encore « Symbolic ».
