Description:
"Insanity And Genius (Anniversary Edition)" is a special re-release of Gamma Ray's iconic third studio album, presented in CD format by EARMUSIC. Originally released in 1993, this edition celebrates the enduring legacy of one of power metal?s most influential bands. The Anniversary Edition features remastered tracks and exclusive bonus material that will delight both long-time fans and new listeners alike. Gamma Ray, founded by former Helloween guitarist Kai Hansen, has been at the forefront of the European power metal scene for decades, known for their melodic hooks, powerful vocals, and high-energy performances. Their discography includes acclaimed albums such as "Land of the Free," "Somewhere Out in Space," and "Power Plant." EARMUSIC is renowned for its dedication to quality releases across rock and metal genres, working with legendary artists to bring classic albums back into the spotlight with superior sound quality and collectible packaging.
The main advantage of this album is the extraordinary variety of material, which is observed on all the first 3 albums... with Scheepers! and the proximity of the performed style to hard, which may even be interesting for lovers of the classics (Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Queen). The album has an abundance of various transitions, alternating slow and fast, the sound is heavy, which is very pleasant, there are a lot of “cymbals” and once again... great solos! The group does not perform songs according to a boring standard, constantly repeating the same musical pattern: verse-hook-short instrumental-verse-chorus. No... once you get carried away, you get carried away, it’s hard to stop. The melodies are not repeated. I'm talking about the “instrumental middle”. For example, take at least... well, simply the most gorgeous “The Cave Principle” and “Gamma Ray”. This... unfortunately, Gamma Ray will never be written again. I would boldly call the following composition the standard of power. I have never heard such chaos (in a good way) as on “Future Madhouse” anywhere else (only my favorite Halloween song “The Time of the Oath” can rival it, remember “We Burn”, “Anything My Mama Don’t Like”). Scheepers' explosive vocals, with hoarseness, deserve special words! Good, great mid-tempo “No Return”, “Insanity & Genius”, “Heal Me”, “Brothers”, ballad “18 Years”. And in conclusion, it remains to mention two action films that completely knock out the brain: “Tribute to the Past” and “Last Before The Storm”. The result is the strongest, most interesting material with the impeccable singing of Scheepers, who is very rare in power metal, definitely!
