2-LP SET 180-Gram Vinyl Gatefold Limited Edition. Although both Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong had probably met and performed together previously, they wouldn't be heard on record together until January 18, 1946, when they waxed a single 78-rpm disc. However, between that year and 1956 they would only record a few more sides as a team, also intended for singles. This would dramatically change on the three LPs they made for jazz producer Norman Granz between 1956 and 1957: Ella & Louis, it's sequel Ella & Louis Again, and the selection of tunes from George Gershwin's folk opera Porgy & Bess. While the latter (and the earlier Decca sides) utilized a big band, the first two albums were made in a small group format with the great Oscar Peterson Trio plus drummers Buddy Rich or Louie Bellson. The results: some of the most fascinating jazz music ever produced. 2-LP SET GATEFOLD EDITION - 180-GRAM VIRGIN VINYL
