Description:
The performance also provided the first chance for Sanders to perform with The Plastic People of the Universe, the Czech band
whose fight against the Czechoslovakian government received vocal support from The Fugs.
The Plastics formed against the wallpaper of communism, ??condemned to hope?.They picked up tunes from the Fugs, the Mothers of
Invention and the Velvet Underground and eventually played behind bars, laying down the basic tracks for the Velvet Revolution.
What remains is a legendary evening. This disc documents for the first time the performance, which sees Sanders returning to form
with his signature blend of musical poetry. The Fugs lived the sixties. In the words of Ed Sanders:??It had not been an easy time.We were
very very controversial. We were always on the verge of getting arrested. We had bomb threats. We were picketed by right wingers.
Someone sent me a fake bomb in the mail. Someone called and said he was going to bomb first me, then Frank Zappa?
The album will be available in a limited edition gatefold digipack with an added 12 page booklet documenting the history leading to this
magical night. -
