Manuel Lipstein's debut album juxtaposes expressive and virtuoso cello works of the modern era with the refined fantasies of the old master Georg Friedrich Telemann. All the compositions I have selected share the common feature of spontaneous, creative, imaginative genesis. Hindemith composed his expressive and extremely varied solo sonata within just a few days as part of a bet with fellow composers.
