Schon der Titel verriet den Hörern, dass es sich um keine gewöhnliche Platte handelte. Ray Dorset verrät: "Ich habe mir den Namen des Albums ausgedacht. Auf den Packungen von Durex stand immer 'elektronisch getestet'. Ich dachte, das wäre ein gutes Gesprächsthema, wenn Leute, die sich auskennen, sagen: 'Das ist derselbe Name wie auf der Kondompackung! Es war ein Tabu, so etwas zu erwähnen." Electronically Tested bot mit den britischen Nummer-1-Hits "In the Summertime" und "Baby Jump" einen Hauch von Vertrautem, aber ansonsten war das Album der pure, eklektische Mungo Jerry. Dorsets Talente als Sänger, Songschreiber und Musiker kamen auf Electronically Tested voll zur Geltung, und seine Bandkollegen John Godfrey, Paul King und Colin Earl sowie Produzent Murray schufen gemeinsam mit ihm einen fröhlichen Lärm: "Es gibt eine Menge Titel, die für sich genommen Singles hätten sein können. Es war gut für mich, all diese Sachen spielen zu können".
