This groundbraking recording by the saxophonist was released by Blue note in 1962 and is generally considered as one of jackie mcLean's best albums. This cd features McLean in a quartet with pianist Walter Davis jr., Herbie Lewis (bass) and Billy Higgins (drums). Three of the four compositions are mcLean originals of which "Melody for Melonae" (dedicated to his daughter) is the best known. Recommended.
