Generally speaking, covering the songs of Led Zeppelin seems like a bad idea. After all, the reason Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones played all those monster jams is so you don't have to. But the astute gentlemen of Coalesce have never let a bad idea get in the way of good music, so they unleashed a seven-track EP of shit-hot Zeppelin covers upon an unsuspecting world back in 1999. -

Reissue. There is Nothing New Under the Sun is an EP by metalcore band Coalesce which features the band covering songs by Led Zeppelin, which was originally released on May 18, 1999.

Tracks 1-7, 14-15 originally written and performed by Led Zeppelin. Originally recorded at Red House Studios in Eudora, Kansas in 1998. Reworking of "That's The Way" and "Thank You" done at Black Lodge Recording Studios in 2006 and 2007. "Supernaut" written and originally performed by Black Sabbath. This version originally recorded by "Bob" at Westend Studios, and then quickly abandoned to rerecord with Ed Rose in 1997 for the "In These Black Days" 7 inch series. "Cutting Away" written and originally performed by Undertow. Recorded at the same session as the ill-fated "Supernaut" song that appears on this CD for the first time. Originally released as part of the "All About Friends" comp put out by the lovely Carrie in Seattle. "Vehicle" and "In The Wilderness" written by Boy Sets Fire and bastardized by Coalesce. Recorded at Red House Studios in Lawrence, Kansas in 1997. Originally released as part of a Coalesce / Boy Sets Fire split 7 inch. "Bob Junior" written and recorded by Coalesce. Originally released as the bonus track on the Coalesce / Boy Sets Fire split CD version. "I'm Giving Up On This One" originally written by The Get Up Kids and bastardized by Coalesce. Recorded at Red House Recording Studio in 1997. Mastered at New Alliance East in June 2007.
