The sessions that produced this album marked the first of only two studio albums featuring Paul Desmond and Gerry Mulligan. Basically this is the same instrumentation employed by Mulligan in his classic piano-less quartet with Chet Baker, but with Desmondâ??s alto instead of Bakerâ??s trumpet. A highly lyrical player, Desmondâ??s sound fits perfectly with the deep sound of Mulliganâ??s baritone sax, and their interplay is very satisfying. - 180G
