"Music from the Connection" is an album by the Freddie redd quartet, recorded as the soundtrack for Jack Gelber's 1959 play "The Connection", a gritty play about musician junkies. The record was released on the blue note label. The quartet features saxophonist Jackie mcLean. The rhythm section consists of Michael Mattos and Larry ritchie. The songs on this cd are hard -hitting, up-tempo hard bop and lyrical, reflective ballads. The end result is a set of dynamic straight ahead bop that is exellently done by all members of the quartet. Recommended.
