"Dexter Calling" (1961) was the saxophonist's second album for blue note and was recorded just three days after his first record for the label "Doin' allright". Three tunes on this cd were originally written for the LA production of the play "The Connection" by Jack Gelber. This album is a solidly, swinging affair. The exellent band, musicianship as well as the memorable tunes make this one of the essential Dexter Gordon recordings.
