Type O Negative was an American gothic metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1989. The band consisted of Peter Steele (vocals, bass), Kenny Hickey (guitar), Josh Silver (keyboards), and Johnny Kelly (drums).

Type O Negative achieved critical and commercial success with their 1993 album "Bloody Kisses", which went platinum in the United States. They released six studio albums in total, with "October Rust" being their third. The band disbanded in 2010 following the death of Peter Steele.
