Description:The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century is one of the most prominent period instrument orchestras in the world. The musicians play internationally in leading (chamber) music ensembles and meet several times a year for performances of iconic and lesser-known repertoire. In the early 1980s, under the direction of legendary conductor and early music specialist Frans Brüggen, the orchestra achieved world fame by performing major symphonic works on original instruments and in a historically informed manner. Franz Brüggen was an avowed opponent of studio recordings and only made live recordings with the orchestra throughout his life. In March 1998, during a tour of Japan, he made a legendary concert recording of the Mozart Requiem together with the Netherlands Chamber Choir at a concert in Tokyo. This recording is now available on LP for the first time. -
The LP "Requiem KV 626" presents Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?s final, unfinished masterpiece in a stirring interpretation by the renowned conductor Frans Brüggen, featuring soloist Marianne Julsrud, the Netherlands Chamber Choir, and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. This recording captures the emotional depth and dramatic intensity of one of classical music?s most celebrated choral works. The performers are acclaimed for their historically informed approach: Frans Brüggen was a pioneer in period performance practice, leading his orchestra to international acclaim with authentic renditions of Baroque and Classical repertoire. The Netherlands Chamber Choir is recognized worldwide for its precision and expressive power. Soprano Marianne Julsrud has performed extensively across Europe with major ensembles. Glossa, as a label specializing in early music and high-quality productions, is known for its commitment to artistic excellence and innovative recordings that bring new life to timeless masterpieces.
