Description:After Salve Reginas, Pastorellen, the C minor Requiem, masses and motets, audite now presents the fourth part of the excursion into the work of Haydn's predecessor. The recording, a multi-faceted compendium of fugue, explores the musical connections between Antonio Caldara and his pupil Gregor Joseph Werner. It culminates in the Requiem in G minor, a retrospective by the composer before his death. Werner used madrigals by Caldara and thus reflects his own artistic career as well as the influence of his teacher, the Venetian vice-chapelmaster Antonio Caldara.
