 | | Description: | Khyoot Ø®Ù?Ù?Ø· is the Arabic plural of "kheet," which means thread, fine cord,
filament, twine... In the more poetic context of the songs on the album, the word
"khyoot" often reappears to refer to the connections that lie behind the visibleâ??
filaments that traverse space and link us to a powerful and magical source. These
threads are what we try to hold onto and maintain over the days, serving as a key
to ourselves, to the transcendence of reality, and to creation. They indicate a path
toward a faith in what transcends us, in the invisible that is nonetheless buried
within us...With "Khyoot," the Tunisian-born songwriter returns to his first loves;
itâ??s a very folk album, a collection of bright songs written for two voices. The
ethereal yet grounded voice of Jawhar blends delicately and gracefully with that of
Aza Mezghani. He is also joined by his two loyal accomplices, pianist Eric Bribosia
and multi-instrumentalist Yannick Dupont.
After his remarkable performance at the Transmusicales in Rennes in 2019, Jawhar
received critical acclaim for his previous album, Tasweerah (2022), from media
outlets such as Libération, Radio France, RFi Musique, and Pan African Music. His
debut album, Winrah Marah (2018), also garnered attention from publications like
Le Monde, TV5 Monde, France Inter, and Les Inrockuptibles, which described it as
"a stunning debut album from a songwriting prodigy." - Khyoot ???? is the Arabic plural of 'kheet', which means thread, rope, filament. In the more poetic context of the songs of the album, the word 'khyoot' often refers to what is hidden, the invisible connections between us and a powerful, magical source. These threads are what we hold onto throughout the days, the path we follow to transcend reality into creation.
