Analogue Productions (Atlantic Series) Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Atlantic Records! Debut studio album by the folk rock supergroup! 180-gram 45 RPM double LP Mastered directly from the original master tape by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering Pressed at Quality Record Pressings Tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jackets with film lamination by Stoughton Printing Crosby, Stills & Nash was a folk rock supergroup made up of American singer-songwriters David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash. CSN's 1969 self-titled debut album is one the true masterpieces of the rock 'n' roll genre; together the group put an original twist on folk, country, blues, and rock, topped by their masterfully blended three-part harmonies. The trio of vocalists / guitarists which forged this group each came from successful 1960s pop/rock acts. David Crosby was from The Byrds, and Stephen Stills played in Buffalo Springfield, both Southern California folk/rock groups, while Graham Nash was from the British pop group The Hollies. Many credit CSN's debut album for helping spawn the prolific soft rock groups of the 1970s, which would dominate the pop charts through that decade. Musically, Stills took the lead role by providing most of the lead guitars, bass, and keyboards along with his vocal parts. Crosby and Nash each added some acoustic and/or rhythm guitar along with their vocals, with Dallas Taylor providing drums. The iconic album cover shows the three band mates sitting on a couch in front of an abandoned home, just days before that dwelling was torn down. This album instantly lifted the band to stardom. The album features some of their best-known songs, including 'Helplessly Hoping,' 'Long Time Gone,' 'Suit: Judy Blue Eyes,' 'Wooden Ships' and 'Marrakesh Express.' The album won CSN the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1970; in 1999 the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked Crosby, Stills & Nash No. 259 on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, then reranked it No. 262 in 2012. Ground-breaking music perfection deserves definitive sound and top-notch packaging. This reissue was mastered directly from the original master tape by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and cut at 45 RPM. Pressed at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in tip-on old style gatefold double pocket jackets with film lamination by Stoughton Printing.Tracklist:0 Side 1 1 1. Shadow Captain 2 2. The picture on this cover is the "laughter photo": Joel Bernstein photographed the trio in serious poses aboard a boat, and initial copies of CSN bore that picture on the cover. The next picture Bernstein took of Crosby, Stills, and Nash was a shot of them breaking into laughter at the thought of just having posed as "serious artists." The trio later decided that they liked the second photo better, and it was decided that all future pressings of CSN should bear the "laughter photo". The cover is textured, and the cover photo is pasted on. One hype sticker says "Made in the USA - QualityRecordPressings.com". Another hype sticker bears the Atlantic75 logo and states: The 75th anniversary of Atlantic Records 75 historic titles hand-picked and supervised by Analogue Productions CEO Chad Kassem Mastered from the original analog tapes of best available source by the mastering engineers Cut at 45 RPM and pressed on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl First 2000 copies are numbered on the back of the jacket and pressed at Quality Record Pressings. Unnumbered copies may be pressed at either Quality Record Pressings or RTI, which is only identified by the sticker on the outer plastic bag.
