 | Description: | Beggars Arkive release a long-awaited vinyl reissue of THE CULTâ??S second album LOVE. Two editions are available. Red vinyl is exclusive to independent retail, Black vinyl will be available everywhere. THE CULT is fronted by Ian Astbury on vocals and Billy Duffy on guitar. Their music and albums at this point need no introduction as they have cemented themselves over the years since they began in 1983, as one of the greatest rock bands around. Love was the Cultâ??s second album, originally released in 1985. It was their breakthrough and produced many singles including â??Rainâ?, â??Revolutionâ? and the epic anthem â??She Sells Sanctuaryâ? - songs that still resonate today - in fact â??She Sells Sanctuaryâ? was recently featured in Season Two of the hit TV show Euphoria. The album eventually defined their career, but at the time, it flew in the face of everything that going on in music. - This reissue has been digitally remastered.Recorded at Jacobs Studios, Farnham, England, July August 1985. Mark Brzezicki courtesy Phonogram. Drums on track 9 recorded at Olympic mixed at Good Earth, London, England.

Yuriy P. - 12/Jun/2020 What is the album "Love"? What is this genre of musical art? Is it gothic? Or is it post-punk? Or maybe this album fits the definition of "hard rock"? But the most radical fans of heavy music can, rolling up their sleeves, menacingly push forward the peremptory “Pops!”, Right? Everyone will be able to answer the question about whether this album belongs to any style, only by listening to it, and more than once. But what it is worth doing (listening to it) is a fact. And I do not recommend, but highly recommend. Because those who love good music and know how to recognize it among the huge amount of material that falls on their heads every day, certainly can not help but recognize that the album "Love", released in 1985 by the label "Beggars Banquet Records", really deserves time spent listening to him.
The first song (reminiscent of The Smiths in musical terms) is a kind of hymn music, with great lines: "It rained flowers when the music began; Love all around when the music is loud; Every day, nirvana." And that's when Ian Astbury drags on this “Every day, nirvana”, there is a desire to put this song on “repeat” and not listen to the album further because of the fear that you won’t hear anything better, but because of the presence in the track list of such compositions as hit "Rain", "She Sells Sanctuary" (video game lovers are familiar with this composition thanks to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, in which she is in the playlist on the V-Rock radio station), "Hollow Man" or the same "Revolution" the desire not to listen to this album seems absurd, since these things, at a minimum, deserve the right to familiarize themselves with them, but in fact, what did they deserve this right from? And I’ll tell you that everyone, and great melody and great guitar work by Billy Duffy, and Estber's catchy and inimitable vocals and, which in his voice resembles and as if resurrects not Jim Morrison, but anyone. And thanks to such an epic composition as “Brother Wolf; Sister Moon”, which arose under the influence of mysticism associated with the American Indians, the album takes on some kind of psychedelic hue. If I have not convinced you, well ... It happens. To each his own. But no matter what, "Love" is one of the best albums of 1985, and the style does not play a special role ...
| | Ivica S. - 12/Apr/2020 I was a big fan of the electric love jangle way back... and, after all LOVE is GREAT album - Highly recommended
| | Eduardo F. - 23/Feb/2018 Cult's riffey Led Zeppelin-esque sound took the world by assault, and somewhat gave birth to the 70s rock revival.
| | Daniel M. - 10/May/2017 Not much new to say about this album-It already has a very important place in RnR history.Second album by the England's post-punk Pioneers, The Cult, with two great '80 super-hits- "She seals Sanctuary" & "Rain".Rest of the album, is,of course, brilliant too.Remastering job is done great, too, without losing a original sound essence...
