First release of one of the great Bay area thrashers. For many fans (I'm one of) their best. Pure adolescent rage and energy packed in finest thrash riffage.

A classic thrash record that brings back memories of the 1980's tape trading scene. Testament is one of the classic thrash bands that emerged during the early 80's to take hard rock to another level. Often referred to as thrash back then, Legacy is a classic record with a sound, lyric content and visual that stands for its time period.

The first album released in 1987 Testament played in the best traditional of Metallica "Ride the Lightning". The first and unfortunately the last Testament I want listen to.

The debut studio album by American thrash metal band Testament. The beginning of the ascension of a cult group, which is very interesting to listen to today. Recommend.

The first album of the legendary American thrash metal band, powerful and melodic. Great stuff, classic! 1010!

This is a thrash metal on its finest! A saturated, powerful, guitar sound along with the masterful guitar playing and ass-kicking guitar riffs. Best quality roaring by steel throat of mighty Chuck Billy. Awesome drumming by Louie Clemente and amazaing bass guitar playing and sound by Greg Christian. All of it created a one of the best thrash metal debut of the 80's. The production is very good, one of the best works of Alex Perialas and Jon Zazula to me.

The debut album of the American thrash metal legend. Formed in the distant 1983, the gang was proudly called Legacy, but after a couple of years it was renamed to Testament. The album was recorded through such musicians as vocalist Chuck Billy (at first it was Steve Sauza, but he went to another legendary trash band Exodus), lead guitarist Alex Skolnik, rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian and drummer Louis Clement. The testament has always stood out among other thrash metal bands thanks to melodic solo parts and recognizable original melody. The vocals are reminiscent of an incendiary mix from Tom Erai from Slayer and Peavy Wagner from Rage. Notice that from Wagner he took elements of screech. In general, the voice is not a priority element in the work of the team at this stage of development, since it is quite typical of the style. The recording quality, as expected, is not very good. This, as always, is damp, and the dominance of sound over vocals. But still you can listen to all this with enviable pleasure. The music is a hybrid of the early Slayer, perhaps a little Metallica and Overkill. The intonations of the early Helloween sometimes slip, which immediately indicates a certain percentage of the speed of the metal elements. On the disk there is both a simple ruby, and the compositions are very melodic and impressive. Here are some of them: the opening and high-speed “Over The Wall”, featuring a great solo part. Following her is no less hurricane, but even more mystical "The Haunting". In it, emphasis is already being placed on a catchy vocal melody, which cannot but please the music lover's ear. “Burnt Offerings” is struck in memory because of its calm initial melody, as well as driving riffs. “First Strike Still Deadly” is another song that is full of great solo melody. But that was only the first half of the album. The record ends even better. The last three songs give the impression of a wonderful example of melodic trash. These include the aggressive and assertive "Do Or Die", covered with a clear aftertaste of Testamentovskoy melody. “Alone In The Dark” reminded me of the most melodic and insane things of Slayer. And finally, the final composition “Apocalyptic City” - this thing is a small digression into the future material of the group. It is in it that a set of standard (for the Testament), but effective chips in the form of an acoustic guitar, hard riffs and catchy melodies is presented. One gets the impression that the beginning and end of the disc consists of melodies and hits. And the middle was ruthlessly torn to pieces by an insensitive and fierce massacre. So it is - “C.O.T.L.O.D” and “Raging Waters” - excellent thrash metal numbers that impress with their pressure, energy and primitive anger. In general, the album was a success!

Testament came a bit late to the thrash metal party, but the waiting was worth of it. Their debut is superb.
