Errata: There is a 'written by' credit on track 1 for 'Purrington' in the release notes. This is incorrect as a) the artist is Turrington (Brian) b) he is credited with arrangement on the original song, not co-writing it. Release credits have David Bowie writing and publishing info wrongly attributed to track 2 : this should obviously be track 11 'Ziggy Stardust'. Production credit for Bauhaus is release-wide but is in error as this information was not altered after the addition of tracks 11 to 14 to the CD release. Some copies include Beggars Banquet 1997 CD catalogue (4 pages) and 1998 CD catalogue (4 pages - Italian distribution only).
"The Sky's Gone Out" is a seminal album by the influential British post-punk band Bauhaus, released in 1982 and now available in CD format. This record showcases Bauhaus at their creative peak, blending gothic rock with experimental sounds and darkly poetic lyrics. Standout tracks like "Spirit," "Silent Hedges," and their haunting cover of Brian Eno?s "Third Uncle" highlight the band's innovative approach to music-making. The album captures an atmospheric intensity that has made it a cult favorite among fans of alternative music. Beggars Banquet, the label behind this release, is renowned for supporting groundbreaking artists across genres since its founding in 1977, playing a pivotal role in shaping independent music culture. Bauhaus are widely regarded as pioneers of gothic rock, known for their dramatic soundscapes and theatrical performances. Formed in Northampton in 1978, they achieved international acclaim with hits such as "Bela Lugosi?s Dead" and have influenced countless bands within alternative and goth scenes worldwide.
