Description: | Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet No. 5 in A major was published in 1801 as opus 18, no. 5, and was written between 1798 and 1800. Beethoven modeled this quartet directly on Mozart's quartet in the same key (K. 464). Recorded at the Unitarian Church, Budapest, from 10th to 12 November, 1997 and from 3rd to 5th March, 1998. The Kodály Quartet, formed in Budapest in 1966 when it's original members met as students at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, has continued to exemplify the greatest standards of the rich Hungarian musical tradition that it has carried on with such extraordinary distinction throughout the world during over four decades of international appearances.? &© 1998.
