Adi J. - 22/10/2014 The music of Reinhard Schwarz-Schilling, together with that of his compatriots, Karl Amadeus Hartmann and Heinrich Kaminski, is the antithesis of the experimental excess and notoriety of the Darmstadt school. All three composers could be viewed as heirs of J.S. Bach's spirituality and gravitas. Schwarz-Schillings' music is diatonic, contrapuntal and largely humour-free, possessing a strong moral fibre so to speak. Staatskapelle Weimar under maestro Serebrier give the music all its due.
