Collectively, these two albums show that Johnny was more than capable of maintaining a career in the face of the rise of Beatlemania. Mostly recorded in Nashville and New York and featuring songs by writers of the caliber of Paul Evans, P.F. Sloan, Wayne Carson Thomspon and Howard Greenfield & Jack Keller, this adds up to a lot of classy mid 60s American pop.
